Fourth Round Pick in '84 Got As High As AA
From the back of Elliott's 1988 Best Columbus Astros # 13
John is a tough contact hitter with a good eye for the strike zone. He helped lead the Asheville Tourists to the Northern League [sic--that should be "division"] title both halves of the South Atlantic League season in 1986 with a .458 on base percentage. John coaxed 107 walks out of the opposition, third best in the league. He is a good glove man at both second base and shortstop. John was a fourth round draft pick out of Long Beach City College in 1984.1986 ProCards Asheville Tourists Unnumbered
