1994 Fleer/ProCards Jackson Generals # 208
TULSA, Okla. -- Kevin Gallaher and James Daspit combined to pitch Jackson's first no-hitter since 1982 in the Generals' 3-0 victory Sunday afternoon over the Tulsa Drillers. Gallaher pitched the first six innings of the rain-shortened game, which was delayed twice by weather and called after the seventh. The non-drafted free agent, signed out of St. Bonaventure in 1991, walked two and had nine strikeouts. He retired the last 12 Drillers he faced. With the Generals leading 3-0, the game was halted for 1 hour and 9 minutes by rain. Gallaher was then replaced by Daspit in the seventh. Daspit had a strikeout and walked one before the game was delayed again, this time for one hour fifteen minutes. The last no-hitter by a Jackson pitcher was turned in by [Jose] Rodriguez in a seven-inning victory over San Antonio at Smith-Wills stadium in 1982. Sunday was the third against Tulsa in Jackson's Texas League history. The Generals scored their first run in the first inning. Fletcher Thompson singled and went to third on a double by Tom Nevers. Thompson scored on a sacrifice fly by Bobby Abreu. |
